First, visit the Austrian National Tourist Office. At the left of that page, click "Provinces/Cities." Find out the German names of the Austrian states; you may have to click the map regions and visit their official homepages to find this out.
Pick one of the above states, excluding Salzburg and Vienna, and find out some more detailed information about it. This would include Major cities, events/festivals, recreational activities, industry, etc.
