In German use the word gern with any verb to express a liking for the action of the verb. Examples:

With the word gern, you can say that you like DOING the action of any verbal phrase. And with the words nicht gern you can express the opposite: a disliking of the action of the verb. With the sentences to your left, express a disliking for the action of the verb. For example, Ich besuche nicht gern Freunde. Practice saying these expressions aloud.
